fOr CEO Hamish Wyatt, a chance encounter with a prominent business person kickstarted the idea that became ‘Reputation Partners’.
“I thought we were having a meeting about web design.”
The mid-30s digital marketer and Wyatt Media agency owner had started the standard discussion about websites, sales funnels, SEO and content.
But within five minutes, the business person had changed the topic.
“That all sounds great, but I need more specific help. I really need someone who can get rid of these unfair search results in Google when a potential client searches my name.”
The business person had started telling Hamish a story about being unfairly called out by an online “keyboard warrior" and some journalists.
Pulling out his phone, Hamish searched and saw the problem right away.
Three of the top five results were negative, and in many cases, a few years old, further down the page, another two articles painted a worse picture, except they were about someone else with the same name.
The business owner only had one result on that first page of Google that they controlled –– a profile on their corporate website.
Because it’s highly unusual to get pages taken down from the internet, and approaching the publishers could antagonise them, Hamish did the next best thing.
Over the course of a month, he implemented a range of digital solutions, writing articles, building websites, and managing social media accounts in a bid to reclaim the search page.
In the space of three months, Hamish had “pushed” all but one of the articles from the first page of Google, and Reputation Partners was born.
The business now services a number of Australian and international clients.
